Fundraiser in Memory of Darren (Muddy) Laycock who passed away on 24th June 2023 from Arteriovenous Malformation – AVM.
In loving memory of a great bloke and to honor Muddy’s life and to thank those who cared for him so deeply we are organizing a fundraiser in support of Brain Foundation for Research into Arteriovenous Malformation which is a tangled mesh of abnormal blood vessels directly connecting arteries to veins in the brain. AVMs occur in approximately 3 of every 10,000 people which sadly Muddy passed away from.
Muddy also helped so many people who have been able to regain their health and live a much longer life by donating his organs. We would like to encourage all to take the easy steps and sign up to Donate Life through donatelife.gov.au, together we can all make a difference in someone's life.
Muddy was wanting to ride an Adventure bike from Melbourne to Darwin a 4,000km motorbike challenge by going off track on rugged terrain and to experience the harsh outback of Australia. His zest for life had no boundaries and his help of others was endless.
Muddy’s friends and family would like to carry on his legacy and help raise funds for AVM Research and spread awareness of the importance of donating organs.
Muddy’s friends and family are taking on his challenge and riding the 4,000kms from Melbourne to Darwin in honor of their special mate in August 2025. The Adventure Ride is known as the 'The Mudrun' and this destination is fitting called 'Run to the Sun'.
By taking the time to read Muddy’s ‘My Cause’ Page story you have already made a difference. We thank you for helping and joining us in celebrating Muddy’s legacy and making a difference in the lives of others.
In honour of our nephew Darren 💙
